We agree with the mission statement and say that diversity is the perfect
word to describe the overall atmosphere. For example, on one particular
stage, there were rock acts such as The Crash Motive and The Grilled
Lincolns, Funk/Blues band The Kelly Bell Band, and musical theater
acts from the Premier Center for the Performing Arts, and Doug Graham
all together, so it could best be described as a musical buffet. There
was something for every musical taste.

As Waters reminisced comically about his life as a Baltimore filmmaker,
across town musicians took turns performing on stages set up under
five tents. ..And there was diversity, everything from jazz to opera
to show tunes to progressive rock.
Controversial Director To Appear At Arts Festival

Organizers of the Unicity Festival, a daylong celebration of the performing arts
set for Aug. 2, were scrambling this week after some town officials and residents
pro-tested that top billing was given to controversial filmmaker John Waters. "I
find that delightful!" Waters said "I love the fact that anyone thinks
my words will be carried on the wind and contaminate somebody's cookout." "My
main thing is I'm against separatism, so I think I'm the perfect speaker for
this," Waters said Thursday.
